Grand Forks ( trfnews.i234.me ) – The University of North Dakota’s Hyslop Center, a landmark building with decades of sports and entertainment history, is being demolished this Tuesday.
Built in 1951, the Hyslop Center served as the university’s basketball arena for decades and is famously known as the venue where UND basketball great Phil Jackson played before moving on to the NBA with the New York Knicks and later coaching the world champion Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.
Beyond sports, the Hyslop Center also hosted numerous concerts and community events, making it a central part of UND’s history for more than 70 years.
The site will soon be home to a new facility designed to house laboratories for various university departments, marking a significant step forward in UND’s campus development plans.
