Traill County, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — On Saturday, May 31, 2025, at approximately 9:28 p.m., a 19-year-old man from Gardner, North Dakota, was involved in a high-speed motorcycle pursuit that ended in a serious crash near Hillsboro. The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) reported that the motorcyclist was initially spotted driving recklessly southbound on Interstate 29 near the Mayville exit.
Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the rider failed to comply, continuing at a high rate of speed. The pursuit led the motorcyclist to exit I-29, heading eastbound on ND Highway 200A, then southbound on Traill County Highway 81. Approximately five miles south of Hillsboro, the rider failed to negotiate a curve, causing the motorcycle to enter the west ditch, overturn multiple times, and eject the driver.
Emergency responders provided medical aid on the scene. The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance and subsequently life-flighted to a local hospital with serious injuries. The NDHP confirmed that the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
