A high-speed chase involving a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 ended in a dramatic crash into a stack of round bales, leaving both the driver and passenger seriously injured. The incident occurred around 11:16 PM on June 28, 2024, approximately 10 miles west of Minot on 156th Street SW and Ward County 14.
The pursuit began when a North Dakota State Trooper attempted to stop the Dodge Ram for a traffic violation on Highway 2 near mile marker 142. The driver, a 45-year-old male from New Town, ND, fled the scene, leading officers from the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Ward County Sheriff’s Office on a chase. The vehicle exited Highway 2, drove west on Ward County Road 12, and turned south onto 156th Street SW.
A Ward County deputy successfully deployed spike strips just north of Ward County Road 14, causing the Dodge Ram to enter a field and crash into a large stack of round bales about half a mile south of Ward County 14.
Both the driver and passenger, a 45-year-old female from Stanley, ND, were not wearing seatbelts and sustained serious injuries. They were transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot. The driver faces multiple charges, including driving under suspension, fleeing a peace officer, and aggravated reckless driving. The passenger has not been charged.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident. Names of the individuals involved will be released at a later date.
