GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A high-speed chase on US 2 near Emerado ended in a severe crash that left a 29-year-old motorcyclist from Grand Forks with critical injuries. The incident occurred on the night of August 26, 2024, when a North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) trooper clocked a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle traveling eastbound at 97 MPH near mile marker 340.
The trooper attempted to stop the motorcycle, catching up to it near mile marker 344. However, as the trooper activated his emergency lights, the motorcycle drifted off the road into the median, causing it to roll over. The rider, Cooper Augsten, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained severe injuries.
Emergency responders from the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office, Emerado Fire, and Ambulance services, along with the NDHP, arrived at the scene. Augsten was transported to Altru Hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
