Hibbing (trfnews.i234.me) — A terrifying early morning assault unfolded in Hibbing, Minnesota, around 5:28 a.m. on Friday, when officers responded to a shooting incident at an apartment in the 600 block of East 40th Street.

According to police, a male suspect known to the victims broke into the residence and violently attacked both the male and female occupants. He first assaulted the male before turning on the female. During the chaos, the male victim managed to retrieve a revolver and fire a single shot, striking the attacker and forcing him to flee the scene.

Authorities later confirmed the female victim was the ex-girlfriend of the assailant. Despite the trauma, both victims declined medical attention at the scene. The suspect was apprehended by the Itasca County Sheriff’s Department, received medical treatment, and is now in custody.

Police emphasize this was an isolated domestic-related incident, and there was no threat to the general public. The investigation remains active and charges are expected to follow.
