Hennepin County ( trfnews.i234.me ) –Â A Brooklyn Center man has been charged after two women were shot near the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis earlier this month. Authorities say the shooting happened during an argument that escalated into gunfire.
Prosecutors charged 21-year-old Tenzin Sonam Phouthavong with two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of second-degree riot while armed. The incident occurred on the night of August 1, when Phouthavong allegedly fired toward a group of people during a confrontation. Two women walking away from the dispute were struck by bullets but suffered only minor injuries.
According to court records, surveillance video showed the suspect arriving on a Lime bike, pulling a firearm from a cross-body bag, and firing multiple shots before fleeing. Investigators recovered several 10mm shell casings at the scene and linked the weapon to the Lime bike, which had been rented by Phouthavong.
On Friday, a judge set conditional bail at $75,000 with terms that included electronic monitoring, random testing, no contact with victims, and a firearm ban. Jail records show Phouthavong posted bail and was released Saturday morning.
The case remains active in Hennepin County District Court. More information about Minnesota court cases is available at the Minnesota Judicial Branch.
