Hennepin County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A former North Dakota State University football player is accused of stealing a bag containing valuables worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Court documents show 20-year-old William David Frattalone is scheduled to appear in Hennepin County District Court on September 11 on a felony theft charge. The maximum penalty is 20 years in prison.
The case centers around an incident on July 4, 2025, at Maynards Restaurant in Excelsior, Minnesota. According to the complaint, a duffel bag was stolen from a sealed cabin on a boat. The bag contained car keys, $25,000 worth of limited-edition clothing, up to $10,000 in cash, and a Rolex watch valued at nearly $228,000.
Employees at Maynards reported stopping Frattalone when he attempted to bring the large bag through the restaurant. He told staff he needed to take it to his car, and they escorted him. The bag was later reported missing. Court records state that officers found the bag at Frattalone’s home during a search, though the Rolex was not recovered. Investigators also found a video on his cellphone showing the bag’s storage location on the boat.
Frattalone was arrested on August 1 in Wayzata, Minnesota, during a search connected to multiple theft investigations. He was released from the Hennepin County Jail on August 4. The case remains under investigation by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
Frattalone transferred to NDSU from Northern Iowa in 2024 but never played in a game. His name also surfaced in connection with a 2024 confrontation in Fargo, where another player fired a gun. Frattalone was not charged in that incident, but the Bison football program dismissed him from the roster after his arrest for theft.
Wayzata is a suburb about 10 miles west of Minneapolis. More information on Minnesota court cases can be found at the Minnesota Judicial Branch.
