Head-On Collision on Highway 89 in Beltrami County – Ford Escape and Chevy Silverado Crash, Both Drivers Injured!

Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me)—A serious crash occurred on April 2, 2025, at 15:36 on Highway 89, near milepost 19, in Alaska Township, Beltrami County. A 2017 Ford Escape, driven by Karnica Lea Jourdain, 19, of Red Lake, MN, lost control while traveling northbound on Highway 89. The vehicle swerved into the southbound lane, where it collided head-on with a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Christine Ellen Schummer, 54, of Bemidji, MN.

Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Bemidji Hospital for treatment. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and alcohol was not involved in the crash. Airbags deployed in both vehicles, providing additional protection to the drivers.

The crash occurred under snowy and icy road conditions, and emergency responders from RL Ambulance, DNR, and local police were quick to assist at the scene.
