Head-on Collision in Pennington County Injures Saint Michael Man

A Saint Michael man was injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday in Pennington County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 24-year-old Zachary James Emslander was driving eastbound in a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado pickup when he collided with a westbound 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by 31-year-old Brett Michael Lofthus of Grand Forks.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Center Street West and 150th Avenue Northwest in Polk Centre Township. Both vehicles ended up in the south ditch.

Emslander was taken to the Emergency Room with injuries described by troopers as non-life-threatening. Lofthus was uninjured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, which was reported just after 2:30 p.m.

Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
