HATTON, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A major grain elevator fire has leveled the Anchor Ingredients site in Hatton early Thursday. The scene is 40 miles southwest of Grand Forks.
The blaze began on Wednesday after 3 p.m.. At its peak, 12 fire departments responded with about 100 firefighters. Crews fought flames through the evening and night.
By Thursday morning, Hatton firefighters remained to monitor hot spots and prevent the spread. The main elevator is a pile of rubble under a hazy, moonlit sky.
Two nearby wheat storage bins collapsed during the fire. Officials report no injuries.
The cause has not been released. Investigators typically review ignition sources, grain dust hazards, and equipment failures.
