Harris County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – One man is dead and another is charged after a deadly shooting inside a Harris County home.

According to a sheriff’s office release, deputies were dispatched on August 17, 2025, for shots fired. They arrived at a residence and found a man with a head wound.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Aaron Prout. He was transported to a hospital, where he died.

Investigators first considered the case a possible suicide. After further work, they say the evidence showed something else.

Detectives say two men took turns wearing a Kevlar helmet and firing a rifle at each other. This occurred inside the house, according to the sheriff’s office.

The homeowner, 37-year-old Sean Odonnell, has been charged with murder in connection with Prout’s death. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The sheriff called the case “hard to believe” and described the conduct as reckless. The investigation is ongoing.

No additional injuries were reported. Authorities did not release the exact address or the rifle’s make and model.

Anyone with information can contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office or local Crime Stoppers. Tips may be shared anonymously.
