HALSTAD (trfnews.i234.me) https://trfnews.i234.me – A Halstad man has been charged with two felony counts of domestic assault after an alleged altercation involving his girlfriend in Norman County.
According to court documents, Devon Lloyd Ziegler, 28, is accused of throwing a chair in the direction of his girlfriend and later punching her in the face during an argument on May 27, 2025. The incident occurred at the Wimmer Cabins in Halstad.
Responding deputies initially found the victim with a forming black eye. Both Ziegler and the victim admitted to a verbal dispute but denied physical contact at first. However, investigators later obtained a recording in which the victim described being struck in the face and expressed fear of potential consequences involving Child Protective Services.
Court records show Ziegler has two prior domestic violence-related felony convictions involving the same victim. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine on each charge.
