HALMA, Kittson County (trfnews.i234.me) A Halma woman faces a felony cannabis charge. Deputies reported seizing almost 10 pounds of marijuana.
Jessica Marie Klegstad, 45, of Halma, is charged with one felony count. The case lists “cannabis possession in the first degree.” The charge is filed under Minnesota Statute 152.0263.
What the complaint alleges
According to the criminal complaint, the case began on January 3, 2026. The complaint says Klegstad’s husband, Kerry Klegstad, called the Kittson County Sheriff’s Office. He asked to speak with a deputy in person.
The complaint says a deputy met him at their Halma home. Kerry Klegstad then led the deputy to a room with his wife’s belongings. The complaint says he pointed out an orange tote that was mostly full.
The complaint says Kerry Klegstad also directed the deputy to a second tote. It was inside a trailer on their farm property. The complaint says the trailer was used as a “party” spot.
Investigators reported seizing about 9.8 pounds of cannabis flower from the two totes. State guidance allows up to two pounds of cannabis flower in a private home. The state outlines limits on its adult-use cannabis page. The limit is also listed in Minnesota Statute 342.09.
The complaint also describes two smoking pipes that Kerry Klegstad turned over. One pipe was described as clean. The other pipe was described as dirty.
The complaint says the dirty pipe tested “presumptively positive” for methamphetamine. Kerry Klegstad told deputies the drugs and pipes were his wife’s, the complaint states. Court papers do not list a public statement from Jessica Marie Klegstad.
