Bismarck I-94 Crash Closes Lanes for 2 Hours

BISMARCK, BURLEIGH COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 in Bismarck closed the westbound lanes for about two hours on Wednesday morning. Authorities confirmed no injuries were reported.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 10:56 a.m. on October 1 near the Grant Marsh Bridge. A 2018 Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 20-year-old woman from Belcourt, was slowing in the left lane behind a John Deere 9500 combine. A 32-year-old man from Chaseley operated the combine and was also traveling westbound.

A 1989 Mack truck, driven by a 60-year-old man from Bismarck, was approaching from behind in the left lane. The truck was unable to slow down and struck the Hyundai, pushing it into the combine. The impact forced the combine off the road and into the north concrete bridge barrier.

Despite the severity of the crash, no injuries were reported. However, traffic on I-94 was disrupted as westbound lanes were closed for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

Responding agencies included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department, Bismarck Police Department, Bismarck Fire Department, North Dakota Game and Fish, Metro Ambulance, North Dakota Department of Transportation, and Red Top Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol. For statewide traffic alerts and road conditions, visit the North Dakota Travel Information Map.
