Grand Forks County, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) — Douglas Allen Austreng, a 61-year-old resident of Grand Forks, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to two major drug offenses. On May 5, Austreng admitted to Class A felony possession of at least 50 grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and Class B felony possession of a Schedule I hallucinogenic substance with intent to deliver.
The charges stem from an October 2024 operation by the Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force, which executed a search warrant at Austreng’s residence. During the search, authorities seized approximately 1,001.4 grams of methamphetamine (including packaging), 30.23 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 0.82 grams of cocaine, 48.7 grams of marijuana, $3,844 in cash, a digital scale, designer baggies, a cell phone, a USB drive, and weapons.
As part of a plea agreement, lesser charges of Class A misdemeanor cocaine possession and Class B misdemeanor marijuana possession were dismissed. Austreng has been credited with 189 days already served. Upon release, he will be on supervised probation for two years. If he violates probation conditions, he could serve up to an additional 12 years in custody.
