Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) – A brutal workplace attack in Grand Forks has ended in prison time. On Monday, June 30, Alexander Antonio Thompson, 28, was sentenced to 20 years in prison with 12 years suspended, leaving eight years to serve, after pleading guilty to Class A felony attempted murder and Class C felony aggravated assault.
According to court documents, the violent incident occurred on April 22, 2024, when Thompson attacked a coworker, first by choking him with his hands, then by wrapping an electrical extension cord around the man’s neck as he walked away. Witnesses said the victim lost consciousness, with his eyes rolling back into his head.
During the assault, Thompson reportedly yelled, “I’m going to kill you,” before multiple people intervened and saved the victim’s life.
In addition to prison time, Thompson must undergo anger management treatment and will be on supervised probation for two years following his release. He was given credit for 435 days already served in custody.
