Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) — A Grand Forks woman, Lisa Hickman, is facing a series of serious charges after a traffic stop for suspected DUI turned violent. According to court documents, the incident occurred around 12:19 a.m. on March 15th, when a University of North Dakota police officer spotted Hickman making an improper turn and striking a curb.

Upon pulling her over, the officer detected the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Hickman reportedly admitted to having “a few shots” roughly 30 minutes before being stopped.

However, the situation escalated when Hickman refused to participate in field sobriety tests and chemical testing. When officers attempted to take her into custody, Hickman allegedly kicked the officer in the arm while resisting arrest.

She is now charged with felony simple assault on a peace officer, along with misdemeanor charges for resisting arrest and driving under the influence (DUI).

The case is raising fresh concerns in Grand Forks about impaired driving and the growing risks faced by local law enforcement.
