Grand Forks County Shocker: Panhandler's Violent Outburst at Local Grocery Store

Grand Forks County (trfnews.i234.me) — On Sunday, April 6, 2025, Grand Forks police responded to an alarming incident at Hugo’s Family Marketplace on Demers Avenue. Terry Wilson, a 32-year-old panhandler, faces multiple charges following a violent confrontation with a store employee.

According to court records, Wilson was soliciting outside the store when an employee requested he leave the premises. Wilson reportedly became agitated and assaulted the employee, who attempted to call the police. The situation escalated as Wilson allegedly lifted the employee, slammed him to the ground, and began choking him. Despite being on crutches, Wilson threatened the victim, stating, “Once my leg gets better, I will f*** you up more.”

The employee managed to escape and re-enter the store, but Wilson followed, confronting multiple staff members inside. Upon leaving the store, officers located Wilson at the intersection of Kittson Avenue and 5th Street North. He reportedly refused to comply with police commands, shouted at the officers, and threw his crutches in their direction.

Wilson has been charged with disorderly conduct, interfering with an emergency call, obstructing a peace officer, criminal trespass, aggravated assault, and menacing. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 19, 2025.
