Grand Forks County (trfnews.i234.me) — Fire crews were called to a grain dryer fire at the Farmer’s Elevator in Honeyford, North Dakota, on Tuesday morning.

According to witnesses, the fire broke out early in the morning and quickly spread through the grain dryer system. Photos sent to TRF News show flames fully engulfing the dryer unit, sending heavy smoke into the air northwest of Grand Forks.

Responders from multiple departments arrived on scene, working to prevent the flames from spreading to the main elevator structure. A person on site told TRF News that firefighters were confident they could contain the blaze to the dryer itself.

The Farmer’s Elevator complex is located in Honeyford, North Dakota, northwest of the Grand Forks Air Force Base. No injuries have been reported at this time, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Grain dryer fires are not uncommon during the late harvest season, when dust buildup, heat, and long run times can contribute to ignition. Crews were expected to remain on scene into the late morning to monitor hot spots and assess damage.

This is a developing story. TRF News will provide updates as more information becomes available from Grand Forks County emergency officials.

I’m Chris Harper reporting for TRF News.
