Governor Tim Walz Highlights Key Wins and Misses in 2024 Minnesota Legislative Session

ST. PAUL, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Governor Tim Walz reflected on the recently concluded 2024 legislative session, expressing enthusiasm about several key achievements. Among the highlights are funding for Uber and Lyft services, increased money for Emergency Medical Services, stricter penalties for firearm straw purchases, a ban on binary triggers, permitting reform, and expanded summer meal programs for children.

However, Walz noted significant disappointments, particularly the absence of a bonding bill for state public works projects. He emphasized the importance of returning next year with a robust proposal, especially for the University of Minnesota. Additionally, Walz mentioned the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) and abortion rights constitutional amendment, which passed the Minnesota House but not the Senate.
