hi everyone Neil Berg here in downtown Bemidji at Paul Bunyan broadcasting calm this is Larissa Donovan of the reporter news director here so what tell folks a little bit about yourself you’re from Bemidji I am from Bemidji my father’s a professor of Bemidji State University we were moved from New York when I was just a baby you got a job at the University we’ve been here ever since okay so you grew up here yes I did so what do you like about Bemidji well I love the lakes I love the you know the parks and trails that’s really great to explore um I have a son we like to go on bike rides on our trails so how did you get interested in news well I was taking some mass communications courses at the University and I seemed to have a natural knack for that hard music so I just you know I I applied for this job at public and Broadcasting last summer for just an announcer shift and you know I’m really impressed some people I guess and when a news director position opened I took it okay you know this isn’t New York City or it’s not downtown Chicago but kind of the same things happen just not as often I mean we get all the same kinds of news as a big city does is we do have a lot of crime per capita in Bemidji compared to our population the crime rate is substantially high so there’s quite a bit going on here I mean we have a lot of local government and a lot of local organizations and do a lot of things for this community all right well it’s kind of nice to know that you know we have we have a partner here somebody that works with us who actually lives and works here and knows their town I mean you kind of have your ear on what’s going on here always keeping my thumb on that pause all right with Larissa Donovan you can see here 24/7 at Paul Bunyan broadcasting calm and I news partner in Bemidji I’m Neil Berg reporting
