ST. LOUIS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office has released body camera footage of a deadly shootout with a suspect during an arson investigation earlier this month.
According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, deputies responded just before 9:00 a.m. on July 15 to a report of multiple fires on the 6200 block of Heritage Road in Norman Township. Investigators say 57-year-old Adam Clinton, also known as Wolf, allegedly set fires at his own home and two neighboring properties while armed with a rifle-style weapon and traveling on a riding lawnmower.
A responding firefighter reported hearing gunfire and believed he was being targeted, and a Duluth Township officer also reported being shot at while approaching the scene. Deputies arrived, located Clinton, and an exchange of gunfire ensued. Clinton was struck, and despite immediate medical aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The BCA recovered a firearm similar to a shotgun, spent shell casings, and improvised shotgun-type devices at the location. The body cam footage, released by the Sheriff’s Office, shows intense moments of the firefight, commands to drop weapons, and deputies maintaining perimeter security during the incident.
