Fargo, Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) – A large police operation unfolded in South Fargo on Tuesday afternoon, ending without an arrest but leaving the community on alert.
Around 3 p.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of 21st Ave. S. for a man with outstanding warrants. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Shelby Whitt, fled before law enforcement could make contact. Two people attempted to block his vehicle and were injured in the process.
Police tracked Whitt to the area near the YWCA shelter at 32nd Ave. S. and University Drive. A wide perimeter was set up, involving K9 units and a drone, but Whitt managed to evade capture. Authorities did locate the vehicle he had been driving.
Whitt is currently wanted for leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment, and has active warrants for driving with a suspended license and fleeing. His criminal record spans North Dakota and Minnesota, with 29 convictions related to burglary, theft, assault, drug possession, fraud, and more.
