Freeborn County (trfnews.i234.me) — Freeborn County emergency crews responded to a semi-truck collision on March 19, 2025, involving two large commercial vehicles traveling southbound on Interstate 35 near Milepost 16 in Bancroft Township.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2016 Freightliner straight truck, driven by Jared Allen Besser, age 44, of Clarks Grove, MN, was traveling southbound when it collided with a 2024 Volvo semi operated by Bakar Oniani, age 34, from Brooklyn, NY.
The crash occurred on snow and ice-covered roads at approximately 10:21 a.m. The driver of the Volvo, Oniani, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Albert Lea Hospital for treatment. Besser was uninjured.
Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Clarks Grove Fire Department, and Mayo Ambulance all responded to the crash scene.
Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not involved, and weather conditions contributed to the accident.
