Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Dammin Joel Zuniga, 29, of Frazee, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for misdemeanor domestic assault, following a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of a felony third-degree assault charge.
The case arose from an incident on the evening of March 11, when Frazee police responded to a domestic assault report. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a woman, who communicated through Google Translate that her boyfriend, Zuniga, had struck her in the face. The woman had visible injuries, including a swollen, discolored eye.
Zuniga, who admitted to hitting the woman, was detained and taken to Becker County Jail. The victim also reported a prior assault by Zuniga two months earlier, involving a knife. She provided photographs of injuries from that incident, including bruises and a cut under her jaw.
Zuniga was sentenced on April 23 by District Judge Doug Clark to 60 days in jail, with credit for 44 days served. He was also fined $50 plus $160 in court fees.
