Becker County, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — Houston Demarlo Moorman, 33, of Frazee, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony domestic assault. The incident occurred on February 15, 2024, when Detroit Lakes police responded to a residence where a woman reported being assaulted by Moorman. According to the criminal complaint, Moorman woke the woman asking for “dope” money, and when she attempted to leave, he grabbed her by the hair, pushed her to the ground, and covered her mouth with his hand.
Moorman, who had two prior convictions in 2023 for violating a domestic abuse no-contact order, was sentenced on October 31, 2024, to 18 months in prison at St. Cloud, with the sentence stayed for five years. He was ordered to serve 90 days in the Becker County Jail, receiving credit for 68 days already served, and fined $500 plus $160 in court fees. Additionally, Moorman was placed on supervised probation for five years with conditions prohibiting the possession or use of firearms, ammunition, explosives, drugs, alcohol, or other mood-altering chemicals, except prescribed medications. He must also complete a comprehensive assessment and follow all recommendations, comply with a domestic abuse no-contact order, and complete a domestic abuse batterer’s intervention program.
