POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fosston man is facing multiple charges after allegedly striking a horse-drawn trailer while driving intoxicated and possessing drugs in Polk County.

According to court records, 34-year-old Jarrid Keith Wang has been charged in Polk County District Court with three offenses following the October 10th, 2025, incident. The charges include:

  • Count I: Controlled Substance Crime in the Fifth Degree — Possession (Felony)
  • Count II: Criminal Vehicular Operation — Bodily Harm While Under the Influence of Alcohol (Gross Misdemeanor)
  • Count III: Second-Degree Driving While Impaired (Gross Misdemeanor)

Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to County Road 1 for a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a horse-drawn trailer and a white GMC Yukon Denali. The trailer’s driver, identified as W.B., suffered a head laceration and told deputies he had been thrown from the trailer during the impact. He said a white Suburban fled the scene, leaking fluids and showing heavy front-end damage.

Officers soon located the damaged vehicle about 1.5 miles from the crash site. It was registered to Wang. Deputies went to his home in Fosston, where Wang reportedly admitted, “I messed up,” and showed signs of intoxication. A preliminary breath test indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.252.

During questioning, Wang allegedly told officers he had been drinking after work and was driving his two nine-year-old daughters home when he struck the trailer. He said he panicked and left the scene because his children were screaming and he had been drinking.

A search of Wang’s vehicle uncovered a small bag containing about one gram of psilocybin mushrooms, a Schedule I controlled substance. Investigators obtained a warrant for a urine sample, which was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing.

Records show Wang has prior alcohol-related convictions, including DWIs in 2011 and 2020, and an open bottle violation in 2016.

If convicted, Wang faces up to five years in prison and thousands in fines for the felony drug charge, in addition to potential jail time and penalties for the gross misdemeanor counts.
