WASHINGTON (trfnews.i234.me) – Josh Klinghoffer, former guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor manslaughter charge following a fatal accident involving a pedestrian in Alhambra, California. The incident occurred on March 18, when Klinghoffer, 44, struck 47-year-old Israel Sanchez while making a left turn. Sanchez later died from his injuries at a hospital.
Charged with vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence, Klinghoffer faces up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. His attorney entered the plea in court on his behalf.
Sanchez’s daughter has also filed a wrongful death lawsuit, alleging Klinghoffer was driving without plates and using a phone at the time of the accident.
Klinghoffer, who played for the Red Hot Chili Peppers from 2009 to 2019, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He currently tours and records with bands like Pearl Jam and Jane’s Addiction.
