Itasca County (trfnews.i234.me)—A serious crash occurred on April 5, 2025, at 13:34 on Highway 38 at Mactavish Drive, in Arbo Township, Itasca County. A 2014 Ford Explorer, driven by John Charles Freeman, 72, of Hackensack, MN, was traveling southbound when it crossed into oncoming traffic, veered off the road, and entered the northbound ditch. The vehicle then struck multiple trees.
Freeman was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, but he sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Grand Itasca Hospital for treatment. Alcohol was not involved in the crash, and the road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.
Emergency responders from the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial EMS assisted at the scene.
