Flooding Update: Cavalier, North Dakota Faces Severe Flooding Situation

Neil Berg here on a monday morning up in uh cavalier north dakota with an update on their uh flood situation uh it appears they’ve uh dodged the bullet the river here is falling off to the left here is the assisted living center it was a big sandbagging effort on uh sunday afternoon we showed you and uh about two o’clock yesterday afternoon the mayor called for an evacuation here on bjornsson drive up in the northwest corner of town and uh coming up here off to the right along river street some people did evacuate at 2 pm yesterday the tongue river here was at 20.5 feet now as of this monday morning just talk with the national weather service it’s at around 19 feet it’s dropped a foot and a half so and it doesn’t look like any rain in the forecast here was the problem it was uh pull right up here the river that’s the tongue river there rolling through town here was on the verge of spilling over its banks into a neighborhood here on the uh northwest corner of uh cavalier but as of now it appears things are in pretty good shape i will turn around here and get you a look at the river back here that’s as it uh flows back behind uh river street another area that called for evacuation yesterday but uh as of this monday morning the tongue river here has fallen a foot and a half uh not seen any rain in the forecast so it appears they’ve dodged the bullet as far as any serious flooding here in cavalier north dakota i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me
