Five people from Winnipeg were injured in a single-vehicle accident Thursday evening on Highway 59 in Smiley Township.
According to State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow, 38-year-old Ashley Jolene Boulanger, and four minors in the vehicle were injured when the southbound 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Boulanger was driving “spun out on the ice-covered roadway and went off the road and rolled in the ditch.” The injured were taken to Sanford TRF and treated for injuries Grabow described as non-life threatening. One passenger, 38-year-old Elliot Alfred Cochrane suffered no apparent injury.
Everyone in the vehicle was wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident reported just after 5:30 pm.
Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
