FIRE ERUPTS AFTER JULY 4TH FIREWORKS IN MOREHEAD — PETS MISSING, RESIDENTS ESCAPE | Clay County | trfnews.i234.me

Clay County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – What started as a July 4th fireworks celebration turned tragic late Thursday night after a fire broke out at a residence on the 3500 block of 15th Street South in Morehead just after 11 p.m.

Three men were inside the house watching TV after lighting fireworks outside when they were jolted awake by police busting through the back door to warn them of the fire.

In a raw interview at the scene, one resident said, “We had a fireworks show, came back in, watched TV, and then we got woken up by police. We have two dogs and four cats. We got the dogs, but we’re hoping the cats made it.”

There is no official word yet on the cause of the fire, but early indications suggest it may have been related to the earlier fireworks display.

All residents escaped unharmed, but the fate of the four cats remains unknown.
