Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Crookston man with a violent history is once again facing a felony charge—this time for domestic assault—after police say he brutally attacked a former roommate.
Djai Dvossiai Mackateri Johnson, 26, has been charged with felony domestic assault after allegedly punching, kicking, and throwing a man to the ground during a violent confrontation on May 30, 2025, outside his apartment on Hoven Lane in Crookston.
The victim, identified as A.D., told Crookston police he was retrieving his belongings when an argument turned physical. Johnson reportedly punched A.D. several times while he was seated in a car, then pulled him out and continued the assault on the ground. Officers noted visible bruising and injuries on the victim.
Johnson has prior felony convictions, including Assault in the Third Degree – Past Pattern of Child Abuse (2023) and a separate Third-Degree Assault in 2018. He is currently on probation and may now face an aggravated sentence if convicted due to repeated violations.
The Polk County Attorney’s Office has issued an Order of Detention, and Johnson is expected to appear in court. Failure to appear could result in additional felony charges.
