Fatal Snowmobile Crash in Crane Lake, Minnesota: 72-Year-Old Man Killed

Crane Lake, Minnesota – A tragic snowmobile crash in Far Northeast Minnesota claimed the life of a 72-year-old man from Glenville on Thursday night, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities responded at 9:15 p.m. to Crane Lake Township, east of International Falls, after receiving a report of a snowmobiler who had struck a tree.

The victim had been trail riding with friends when he veered off the trail and crashed into a tree. Friends immediately rendered aid until medical personnel arrived, but despite their efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

While the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, officials believe that speed may have been a factor.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending family notification.
