Williams County, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A Williston man died Sunday morning following a single-vehicle rollover on U.S. Highway 2 in Williams County. The North Dakota Highway Patrol released updated information Monday regarding the fatal crash. The incident occurred at 7:04 a.m. on November 16 near mile marker 43.

According to the Highway Patrol, a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling west on Highway 2 when it left the roadway. Troopers say the vehicle entered the median and the driver overcorrected. The Tahoe then continued into the north ditch, where it rolled. Road conditions were reported as dry, but the area was experiencing fog.

The driver was identified as 37-year-old Duane Basher of Williston. Basher was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the rollover. He was transported by Ray Ambulance to CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Williston. According to the Highway Patrol, he died from injuries received in the crash.

The Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Ray Fire Department, and Ray Ambulance assisted at the scene. Responding crews provided emergency care, secured the crash area, and supported the investigation.

The Highway Patrol reports that the crash remains under active investigation. Additional findings will be released as the case is reviewed. The agency continues to emphasize the importance of seat belt use in reducing fatal injuries. Information on North Dakota crash statistics can be found at dot.nd.gov.

This fatal rollover marks another serious incident on U.S. Highway 2, a major corridor through northwestern North Dakota. Fog can reduce visibility for morning drivers, but investigators have not yet confirmed whether visibility played a role in this crash.

Updates will be provided when more details become available from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
