Brown County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A fatal crash involving a sedan and a minivan halted traffic Tuesday afternoon on Highway 15 in Brown County, Minnesota.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the collision occurred at 1:47 p.m. near 170th Street in Cottonwood Township, where road construction was underway.

A 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan, occupied by a 75-year-old woman and an 83-year-old man from Madelia, had stopped for roadwork when it was rear-ended by a 2021 Nissan Altima driven by an 18-year-old woman from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Two 10-year-old passengers were also in the Nissan.

Authorities confirmed the crash is classified as fatal but have not yet released the identity of the deceased. The names of those involved are expected to be made public on Wednesday.

Both vehicles’ airbags deployed. Multiple agencies responded, including the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, New Ulm Fire, Allina EMS, Madelia EMS, Mayo 1 Air Ambulance, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing its investigation.
