Faribault, Rice County (trfnews.i234.me) — On Thursday, April 24, 2025, at approximately 9:44 AM, a serious three-vehicle collision occurred on southbound Interstate 35 near milepost 57 in Faribault, Minnesota. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the vehicles involved were a 2018 GMC Yukon, a 2024 Western Star semi-truck, and a 2013 BMW 750, all traveling southbound when the crash occurred.
The driver of the GMC Yukon, 64-year-old Lisa Kay Reinert of Hastings, MN, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Her passengers, 33-year-old Courtley Renee Sue Platson and a 1-year-old male, both also from Hastings, were injured and transported to District 1 Hospital. The driver of the BMW, 43-year-old Michael Paul Horn of Newport, MN, was not injured. The semi-truck driver, 63-year-old Kenneth Doyle Schmitz of Oxford Junction, IA, was also uninjured.
Emergency responders from the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Faribault Police Department, and North Memorial Ambulance assisted at the scene. Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the accident.
