Faribault, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A tragic discovery was made Wednesday morning when emergency crews recovered the body of a missing ice fisherman from Cannon Lake in Faribault, Minnesota.

At 10:09 a.m. on March 5, 2025, the Rice County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a body found floating in the lake. Emergency personnel, including the Faribault Fire Department, Rice County Dive Team, North Ambulance, and Minnesota DNR, arrived on the scene, using cold water rescue suits to enter the open water and retrieve the deceased.

Authorities identified the victim as 58-year-old Troy Allen Krenz of Faribault. Investigations revealed that Krenz had gone ice fishing on the evening of March 4th, sometime after 4:30 p.m., but never returned home. Concerned family and friends began searching for him early Tuesday morning before his body was discovered.

The official cause of death is under investigation, with the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office assisting in the case.
