CLAY COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – Authorities have released new details about a car-train collision in Moorhead, Minnesota, that sent one person to the hospital Monday afternoon.

According to Moorhead Police, the crash happened at Highway 75 and 15th Avenue North at approximately 1:24 p.m. Investigators say an eastbound vehicle traveling at a low speed struck a southbound BNSF rail car at the crossing.

The driver, an 84-year-old Fargo woman, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was extricated from her vehicle by emergency crews. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Responders from the Moorhead Fire Department and FM Ambulance assisted at the scene, while BNSF Railway officials and local law enforcement worked to secure the crossing and investigate the incident.

Traffic along Highway 75 was temporarily delayed while crews cleared the area and inspected the train and crossing equipment. Authorities have not yet released the woman’s name.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Officials will review video from the train’s cameras and crossing data to determine how the collision occurred.
