FARGO (trfnews.i234.me) – Leymah Lopai has been charged with theft after allegedly taking over $500,000 in merchandise from her Fargo employer.
According to court records, an investigation was initiated when the owner of a business that sells collectible banknotes reported missing inventory valued at approximately $250,000. The bills were sold through trade shows and online auctions.
The owner suspected a former employee, Leymah Lopai, had taken the merchandise while she worked for him until May of this year. He confronted her about his suspicions, to which she admitted taking some of the items and selling them through an alternate Ebay account.
Leymah Lopai returned some of the stolen bills but claimed that was all she had. However, further investigation revealed additional stolen inventory listed online.
During a search of Leymah Lopai’s home, investigators found over $500,000 in stolen merchandise, including coins and collectible banknotes.
The owner estimates an additional $100,000 worth of stolen items were sold before being discovered.
