FARGO, Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo woman is now charged with four felony counts after police linked her to two vehicle burglaries in downtown Fargo.
Court documents state the case began on November 10. A witness saw a woman searching through a parked vehicle in downtown Fargo. The witness followed the woman to a home on Robert Street. The person later contacted the police and provided details of what they saw. Officers reviewed that information and began an investigation.
The woman was identified as Chelsey Marie Walsh of Fargo. Investigators gathered video from the area. The footage helped confirm the witness report. Police say the video showed Walsh near the vehicles during the time of the reported thefts. The video also showed movements that matched the description provided by the witness.
Officers later connected Walsh to two vehicles that had reported missing property. The items included personal belongings, small valuables, and other items normally kept inside a vehicle. The loss amount was not listed in the filed records.
Prosecutors have now charged Walsh with four felonies. The charges include two counts of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle. The other two counts are theft of property. All charges relate to the same area of downtown Fargo. Court records do not list a motive for the thefts. Walsh has not yet entered a plea in the case.
Vehicle break-ins are a continuing issue in larger metro areas. Police often remind drivers to remove valuables and lock their vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration offers basic theft-prevention tips at this federal site.
This case is now moving through the Cass County District Court. More information may be released as future hearings take place. Court documents are early summaries and may change as the case develops. Walsh is presumed innocent unless convicted.
