Fargo, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Fargo Police responded to a stabbing early Monday morning on Dakota Drive North. The incident sparked a multi-hour standoff that ended with a SWAT team arrest. The situation unfolded at around 6:14 a.m. after a report of an assault inside an apartment. Officers reached the area and found an adult male outside the building. The man had non-life-threatening injuries and chose not to receive medical care.
Police learned the suspect, identified as 55-year-old Michael Conover of Fargo, was still inside the apartment. He refused to exit and blocked access to the unit. Officers determined that an armed suspect inside a residence presented a serious risk. Because of that risk, the Red River Valley SWAT Team was called to the scene.
SWAT members attempted to make contact for some time. At 8:51 a.m., they deployed a chemical irritant to gain compliance. After the irritant entered the apartment, Conover surrendered to officers without further issues.
Conover was taken to the Cass County Jail. He faces charges of aggravated domestic assault and resisting arrest. Police say the investigation remains active, and more information could be released later. Residents in the area were not harmed during the incident.
