Fargo Suspect Granted His Request for a Place to Sleep, Ends Up at Cass County Jail

FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) A Fargo suspect got his wish, after being stopped driving a stolen pickup. He said he was drunk and need a place to sleep. Michael Franklin was taken to the Cass County Jail.
Michael a Franklin of Fargo has been charged with felony theft of property a Silverado pickup reading from the interesting incident report uh when the officer arrived on scene he noticed an XL Energy telephone pole knocked down with wires Laying across the road secured the scene with the Fargo fire department while securing the scene the officer witnessed a white pickup truck struggling to turn around in the area near the crash a vehicle located at 13 100 block of 17th Street South noticed a piece of trim protruding a few feet from the driver’s side wheel well initiated a traffic stop and uh while stopping the vehicle the officer noticed the vehicle strike the curb before coming to a complete stop as he exited the squad uh Franklin exited the Silverado at the same time he watched him stumble as he was exiting and advised him to get back in his vehicle uh Franklin was struggling to comprehend commands and told him to keep his hands out of his pocket and take a seat on the curb behind the vehicle while he was sitting on the curb he began to slump over I could smell the officer stated he could smell the odor of alcohol and see that he had red glossy eyes he also had blood around his nose and mouth area the officer asked uh Franklin if he had been drinking tonight and he stated yeah he asked uh Franklin if he had any identification on him and he fell over on his left side in the grass uh the officer said while ask he asked uh Franklin a few more questions and he tried to get up and walk off he was detained and cuffed uh before entering the squad uh Franklin stated that quote I did steal this car the officer asked Michael again if it was a stolen vehicle and he stated yes sir uh Franklin also stated he was drunk and he needed somewhere to go to sleep I’m Neil Berg reporting for I trfnews.i234.me
