Fargo (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo man is facing a felony charge after a neighbor reported a stranger sitting on his couch.

Call for help

The reporting resident told dispatch he was hiding in a bedroom. He said several handguns were in the kitchen. He feared the stranger could reach them.

Police response

Officers arrived and found the apartment door open. They announced themselves and entered the unit. They did not find the man inside.

A short time later, officers located a man in a nearby unit. Police identified that man as Seifert.

Officers wrote that Seifert spoke in ways that did not make sense. They believed he was in a mental health crisis.

  • No injuries were listed in the incident report.
  • No property damage was described in the report.
  • The report did not describe any weapon being used.

Charge filed

Seifert was arrested and booked. Prosecutors later filed a felony criminal trespass charge.

Police have not released details about how he got inside. The report also does not say why he went there.

Criminal trespass generally involves being somewhere without permission. The court process will decide what happens next.

Felony charges are accusations, not proof. Seifert is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
