FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A suspect wielding a machete was arrested on a Fargo rooftop early Friday morning. Ezra DeJarlais is now facing multiple charges.

Around 12:28 a.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to the 20 block of 7th Street South following a report of suspicious activity. A caller reported an individual inside a vacant apartment. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect using a fire escape ladder to flee to the rooftop.

With permission from the building manager, officers accessed the roof. The suspect began throwing items off the roof, including roof vents and rocks. The regional drone team and Fargo Fire Department were called to assist. Using the drone’s spotlight and PA system, officers located the suspect and issued commands. The drone pilot noticed knives, including a machete, on the suspect’s belt.

Additional officers arrived and used a ladder truck to safely reach the roof, while others ascended via the fire escape ladder. The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Ezra DeJarlais, was arrested without incident. He was transported to Cass County Jail on charges of burglary, preventing arrest, inhalation of volatile chemicals, and an outstanding warrant.
