FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Fargo police officers exercised significant restraint during the arrest of rape suspect Kedrick Baker at a homeless camp just north of the Main Avenue Bridge on Saturday evening. According to the incident report, officers approached the camp around 6:00 PM and witnessed Baker, identified from previous encounters, on top of a woman lying face down on the ground. The woman began screaming as Baker stood up, revealing her pants were down.
Baker, initially non-compliant, aggressively advanced towards the officers despite multiple commands to show his hands and get on the ground. The lead officer drew his firearm but holstered it, opting to use a taser instead. The first set of taser probes had no effect as Baker tore them out. A second set of probes momentarily halted him, but he continued to resist commands.
Another officer arrived and deployed additional taser probes, which finally subdued Baker. After a struggle, officers handcuffed Baker and called for ambulances for both him and the victim, who was found crying with her pants still down. She later reported that Baker had tried to suffocate her and also raped her friend.
Kedrick Baker now faces multiple felony charges, including gross sexual imposition, attempted gross sexual imposition, felonious restraint, and resisting arrest.
