Fargo ( trfnews.i234.me ) – Fargo police have announced the arrest of one suspect in a pair of homicides that occurred in the city early August 3. A second suspect remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities say 20-year-old Caundre Douglas, who has no permanent address, was arrested in Jamestown, North Dakota, after a brief foot chase. Douglas was initially taken into custody on two felony warrants related to previous incidents of reckless endangerment and aggravated assault in July.
During his arrest, investigators gathered evidence linking Douglas to the murder of 20-year-old Elijah Hughes, whose death occurred in the 4700 block of 16th Avenue South. Douglas has since been formally charged in that case, as well as in a July 6 shooting incident in Fargo.
Police continue to search for 19-year-old Tyrque Jones, who is wanted for the murder of 20-year-old Azim Holmes in the 50 block of Broadway. Authorities warn that Jones should be considered armed and dangerous and urge anyone with information to contact Fargo police through the department’s tip line or Tip 411 service.
Officials highlighted the extensive investigative effort in recent days: 37 sworn officers and seven civilian employees have logged nearly 650 hours and executed 13 search warrants since the shootings occurred. Multiple local, county, and federal agencies are assisting in the ongoing investigation.
Chief David Zibolski and Captain Chris Alfeld also addressed concerns raised about public safety and police staffing, reiterating condolences to the victims’ families and pledging continued efforts to apprehend the remaining suspect.
