FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – A Fargo police officer is recovering after being bitten multiple times by a dog during the arrest of a suspect on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred when 38-year-old Zakariya Abdikarim barricaded himself inside an apartment on the 300 block of 7th Avenue North. Abdikarim made threats towards the officers and refused to surrender, prompting the police to deploy pepper balls and tear gas.
Despite these efforts, Abdikarim remained inside, forcing officers to remove the door from its hinges to gain entry.
During the arrest, a dog attacked and bit one of the officers multiple times.
The injured officer was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Abdikarim was arrested and is facing charges of burglary and preventing arrest.
