Fargo, Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — Fargo police say a domestic call led to an arrest Thursday night.

This is an update to an earlier report of a possible stabbing.

Police were sent to the 2700 block of 32nd Avenue South at about 8:26 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

One person told officers they had been stabbed during a dispute inside a home.

What the police say happened

Police said they spoke with several people at the scene.

After interviews, police said the injury came from a pair of pliers.

Police said the victim had minor injuries.

The victim refused a trip to the hospital.

Police did not release the victim’s name.

Police also did not share more details about the dispute.

Arrest and charges

Police said they found enough cause to arrest at the scene.

Michael Schaffer, 35, of Fargo, was taken into custody.

Police listed the case as domestic violence and aggravated assault.

Schaffer was held in the Cass County Jail as of Friday morning, January 23, 2026.

Police said the people involved knew each other.

Police said there was no danger to the public.
