FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – Katterrius Maurice Oates changed his plea to guilty on June 19th in Cass County Court for multiple charges related to the sexual assault of a minor. The accused faces counts including use of a minor in a sexual performance, promoting a sexual performance by a minor, possession of certain materials prohibited, corruption of a minor, and violation of an order prohibiting contact.
The details of this case involve cell phone data analysis between Oates and the juvenile female victim from November 2024 to January 2025. Investigators discovered that conversations between the two suggest they were in a sexual relationship for at least two years. The girl’s mother found messages and photos being exchanged, prompting police intervention.
Despite the young age of the victim (only 15 years old), Oates admitted to knowing her true age during his interview with investigators. Following this revelation, a felony jury trial scheduled for September has been canceled due to Oates’ change of plea.
